Alejandro Magaña
STUDIO 308

Originally from Mexico City, D.F. and been living here in Chicago for 12 years. At the Flat Iron Building for 4 years but longer visiting my friends. My project in the building is to build a community website for the resident artists. It has proven hard since there is such a great rotation of artists and galleries.

This is some of the work I do in photography although the majority of the time I spend working on the website, adding stuff and cleaning it so it is easier to navigate and showcase what transpires in the building.

This are some of my favorite pix taken for a variety of reasons and in many locations. I don't have a particular theme to follow like many photographers that do weddings or journalism or sports or events or people or nature. I do a little of everything but what drives me is the moment, a feeling or a particualr combination of colors and angles. I shoot for myself and some times for pay or trade, for a good cause too.

My favorite camera (which I lost 3 times and bought again) is a Sony digital SLR fixed lens with a focal length from 28mm wide angle to 200mm telephoto (35mm equivalent) like 7 lenses in 1. You can shoot from your belly and in infrared mode too!

I photograph weddings, special events, art work, night clubs, fashion, people, friends, Japanese designer toys, trips, urban settings, nature and people walking down the street from the window of my studio looking at Damen, North and Milwaukee avenues.
