A Jack of all Trades
“A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, design a building, conn a ship, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve an equation, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.” Robert A. Heinlein
Alex was born in Mexico City, “D.F.”, Chilango, and move to Chicago in 1995 where he’s been ever since. He started developing his interest in photography and web design more seriously when he moved into the Flat Iron Arts Building in 2002. Inspired by the artists in the building he started a community website to showcase the works and the people that had been quietly changing the face of Wicker Park. With the community he created some of the most visual and outwardly public shows the building has had like the 2007 Point of Views show where many of the windows in the building showcased videos, live performances and shadow theater to the streets of Milwaukee Damen and North Avenue.
Other notable shows were the first “Art on Track” where 8 CTA cars were transformed into galleries that circled the loop for half a day with live music, performances, interactive galleries and artwork. The Critical Mass Show was held at the Flatiron Building as well the winter of 2007 as well with huge success.
