Chicago Has A Fresh New Take on the Arts!

Join host Elysabeth Alfano for Fear No Art Chicago as she goes behind the scenes, where the public is never allowed, to discover what is involved, mistakes and all, in making of sculpture, painting, fashion, music, theater, and food of all types in the back studios, kitchens and stages of Chicago’s artists.

Focusing on artist success stories in this first 30 minute show, Elysabeth discovers the soul of blues and folk musician Nicholas Barron, changes things up with fashion designer Lauren Lein, and delights in the MOTO madness with chefs Omar Cantu and Ben Roche.

June is a native Detroit / Hamtramck life long artist who possesses a background in Fashion Design and Functional Metal Sculpture.

Her new Dog Fantasy Portrait series (acrylic paintings) captures her ~ or your favorite dog in a whimsical setting with added soft sculpture that she has created and sewn on the canvas. Commissions are welcome for dogs, cats and animals either in a fantasy background or serious portrait.

Boarding the train is simple. Entrance and ticket booths are located at both the Adams/Wabash and Washington/Wells CTA ‘L’ stations (Washington/Wells is handicap accessible). Once your ticket has been purchased, you will be given an official AoT wristband. Simply show your wristband at either of the official entrances, and you will be able to board Art on Track without paying the normal CTA fair.

Art on Track will make four stops on its circuit around the loop, allowing passengers enough time to switch cars. The train usually takes fifteen to twenty minutes per round trip, so viewing each train car once will take you about forty minutes in total. Of course, you are welcome to spend as much time aboard AoT as you like, and you are free to come back later in the evening.

(note: While Art on Track tickets grant access the ‘L’ Platform, and the ability to board the chartered Art on Track train, they do not replace regular CTA fair. The purchase of a CTA fair is required in order to ride any of the regularly scheduled CTA trains.)

I have always enjoyed observing nature and the world around me. Painting provides me the ideal medium for recording my impressions. My work focuses on the combinations of colors and forms that I encounter every day. I begin each painting with simple iconography that I build upon, layer by layer. It is this layering that allows my impressions to be presented with balance and subtlety.

Flat Iron Artists will stage the “Now You See It and Now You Don’t” exhibit. The walls of the Flat Iron Arts Building will act as a “Canvas” for a continuous flow of linear art, making the interior into one massive painting, going in many directions. The painting, by a select group of Chicago artists, will be debuted, experienced and vanished in one evening.

Very often I ask myself the question: “Why do I feel the need and desire to create? Do the powers of creativity exist in every human being?” If so, when do those powers emerge and what is the strongest motive, impulse of creativity? Each human being is connected with a certain kind of Universe; he participates in the transmittal of its culture; and he creates it by perceiving, reading and listening in his own individual way. The creation of his own universe also means active participation in culture, in process o fits creativity by an effort to perceive masterpieces of art, and emotionally to experience the ideas and thoughts contained within it.

I experience creativity as a revel against reality, protest giving power to my own transforming for the reality. Kant says that creativity is the pain and joy of existence and is also an interior imperative of the human being.
In my subconsciousness I expect acceptance of my creativity and contact with other people on the basis of artistic performance. My works of sculpture give me the courage in the struggle with the vanquishing of material reality. It is also a kind of test of myself. In the moments when I reach calculable results it allows me to confirm my beliefs and it proves that I am right in my choice of a way of life.
